Strong Enhancement of Superconducting Correlation in a Two-Component Fermion Gas

概要

We sttudy high-density electron-hole (e-h.) systems xvith the electron derasity slightly higherthan the hole density. We find a new strpercondtrcting phatse, in xvhich the excess electrons f'orrnCooper pairs tnoving in an e-h BCS phase. The coexistence of the e-h and e-e orders is possiblebecz+use e arad h have opposite charges, whereas anarlogotrs phases are irtapossible in the case oftwo fermion species that have the sau?e ch?trge or are netttral. lVIost strikingly, the e-h orderenhances the strpercondtrcting e-e order parataaeter by uaaore than one order of' rnagnittrde ascornpared with that givert by the BCS formtrla, f'or the sanae xxalue of' the effective e-e attractivepotential A". This nexv plaase should be observable in an e-h systetn created by photoexcitationin doped serniconductors at low tetnperatttres.
