Direct Observation of Orbital Order in Manganites by MEM Charge-Density Study

NX'e have inxzestigated the charge-density distribtrtion of' an antiferrotaaagnetic bi-layered taaan-ganite, NdSrxlVInzOw, by the naaxiunvrrn entropy tnethod (1NzIE1lVI) trsing the synchrotron X-ra3rpowder data. The raaagnetic strtrcttrre Tcelow 'Z'N : 150 K is known to be a layered-type (A-type).We have fotrnd a significant change of the electron distribtztion arotnnd the lVIn site below Ty.Our' observation indicates Ax' -y'-orT*ital polarization in the A-type antif'errontaagnetic state.
