Tlae constittrtive relationship of the slijo velocity ?xnd the apjolied f'orcehas been derixred ;tr'ud the cotrpling of' tlae slip dytaarnics atnd the coraapressibility of' the naelt inthe reservoir has been considered. The steady state solution, the linear st?tbi1ity analysis, andtlae ntrtaaerical calculation strggested the followings. l) The flow ctzrve is 1,>atsic?tlly IN-slaaped. 2)Tlae r?tnge of the negatixze slope in the flow ctrrve can be trrnst?tble. 3) In the trrrstatble range,lizuait cycle appears arotrnd 2111 tnnastable steady state. 4) The controlling parauaaeter of' tl'ne stability is the melt depth in the reservoir, which deterrtaines the cozaapliance of' the wlaole systeraa.Experiraaental exattain?ttion of' the periodic sptrrt of' polyethylerae la?rs confirmed tluose theoreticalpredictioras.
