Expansion of Voids in a Matter-Dominated Universe : Astrophysics and Relativity

Evolution of voids in the Einstein-de Sitter universe is examined. Numerical calculations including matter pressure are performed in general relativistic method. A dense ridge is formed in the nonlinear stage, and its expansion law is approximated as t^<0.8> for mass compensated perturbations, and as t^<0.9> for mass deficient ones. Their expansion behaviour is almost independent of their size. If the sizes of the observed voids are in the range of (20〜100)h^<-1> Mpc, their sizes at recombination are in the range of (6〜30)Kpc or (0.02〜0.1)×(particle horizon size). It is concluded that the present observed voids require the fluctuations with ∣δρ/ρ∣> 0.005 and size〜6.0×10^<-3> Mpc at the recombination. These values cannot be explained by the adiabatic scenario.
