お茶ポリフェノールをはじめ抗酸化作用を持つ植物性ポリフェノールは虚血による神経細胞障害に対して抑制作用を示すことが知られている。今回の実験では海馬初代培養細胞を用いてグルタメイト及びカイニン酸による細胞障害に対してソバ(Fagopyrum esculentum Moench.)のポリフェノール(BWP)の作用を検討した。グルタミン酸(100μM)およびカイニン酸の高濃度(3mM)による細胞障害に対してBWP(100μg/mL)は抑制作用を示した。このことからソバポリフェノールはAMPA受容体の抑制によって神経細胞保護作用を示すことが示唆された。
