On S-Matrix Pole vs Cusp in pp Scattering near the NΔ-Threshold

The cross section for the D-wave pp elastic scattering divided by πλ_♪^2 is found to have a peak significantly below the NΔ-threshold. The peak is explained on the basis of the unstable bound-state type pole of M=2144 MeV, Γ=110 MeV. Interpretations in terms of the NΔ virtual-state pole or the threshold cusp are invalid.
