S-Matrix Poles for Unstable-Particle Scattering

We derive an S-matrix representation for scattering when a pole of unstable bound-state, virtual-state or resonance type lies close to threshold for unstable-particle production. Behavior of the phase shifts in the neighborhood of the threshold is studied in relation to the nature of the pole of the S-matrix.
