p-p Scattering Matrix in the GeV-Energy Region. I : p-p Phase Shifts at 0.97 Gev

A phase shift analysis of the p-p scattering data at 0.97 GeV is reported. Two previously found solutions of the peripheral and central absorption types are refined by following the proposed scheme of analysis and by using the recent new experimental data. Two solutions corresponding to the old ones are obtained again, both of which confirm the previous conclusion that the low-energy interaction picture is still consistent with the experimental results even at this energy. Importance of measurements on the depolarization parameter at large scattering angles is pointed out to discriminate between the two solution types.
