Analysis of the Decays N^* → ρN in the Naive Quark Model

The πN→ρN resonant amplitudes are discussed by the naive quark model. The interaction Hamiltonian for the decays N^*→γN, and the baryon wave functions of the three-dimensional harmonic oscillator potential model are used to estimate the SU(6)_w-breaking effects. It is shown that the longitudinal motion of quark in hadron is essential to reproduce the right signs and magnitudes of resonant amplitudes. This motion causes the ΔL_Z=0 process, but violates the prediction by SU(6)_w, i.e., the longitudinal helicity amplitude of ρ-meson has the sign different from that predicted by SU(6)_w. The transverse motion of quark is suppressed in contrast to that obtained from decays N^*→γN.
