Formation of Double-Λ Hypernucleus from Quasi-Free Ξ^- Absorption : Nuclear Physics

• A possibility to observe a double-Λ hypernucleus is investigated in the case of a quasi-free Ξ^-absorption at a (K^-, K^+) reaction point. A quasi-free Ξ particle brings about a double-Λ compound nucleus in a probability of 0.3 % 〜 0.9 % after the absorption into the nucleus. From the statistical treatment for the fragmentation of the double-Λ compound nucleus, it is predicted that ^6_<ΛΛ>He is emitted with the highest probability among double-Λ hyperfragments in the case of ^<12>C target.
