Effects of Abelian Fields on the Deep Inelastic Electroproduction Structure Functions

Effects on Abelian fields on the deep inelastic electro-production structure functions are investigated by treating them as a small perturbation on the unperturbed non-Abelian gauge field. Perturbation formulae are derived for the structure functions via the operator product expansion and the Callan-Symanzik equation. The electron and muon data are analyzed and the incorporation of Abelian fields with small coupling constants is shown to improve the fit of experimental data appreciably. Regge pole parameters for constituent particle scattering are evaluated from the experiment.
