A detailed analysis is made of the threshold behaviour of the partial-wave dispersion relation, taking N-N scattering with spinless π and N as an example. It is shown up to the fourth order of the effective π-N coupling constant g that the correct threshold behaviour of the amplitude is obtained due to the cancellation between the contribution from the right-hand cut and the contribution from the left-hand cut, though each of these contributions does not show the correct threshold behaviour.
