To proceed to investigations of the stability of nonhomentropic gases with differential rotation to non-axisymmetric perturbations, we examine the incompressible cylinders with a sequence of density distributions. Owing to consideration of the buoyancy, their stability bears an aspect of general influence of the entropy gradients on the stability. We approach the problem in the two different ways: an analytic calculation for the cylinders with the infinitesimally small density gradients and a numerical computation for the cylinders with finite density gradients. We show that the density gradients (i) decrease the maximum of the growth rate of each unstable mode and (ii) extend the unstable region. For the thin cylinders, the density gradient suppresses the instability, while it enhances the instability for the thicker cylinders. The property (ii) can be explained by the description that each of the pattern speeds of the edge waves which interact with each other is diminished by the buoyancy.
