Gravitational waves emitted by a particle moving in a circular orbit around a stellar model are examined. First-order perturbation equations are solved both inside and outside the star. A resonant oscillation of the star occurs when the frequency of the gravitational waves produced by the particle coincides with the quasi-normal mode of the star. The amplitude of the gravitational wave at the resonance exhibits a sharp intrinsic peak depending on the equation of state used in the equilibrium configuration.
