The Wiener-Hermite expansion with the time-dependent ideal random variable is applied to the nearly Gaussian cases of the three-mode problem. It is shown that a proper choice of the time-dependent ideal random variable improves the approximation of the truncated Wiener-Hermite expansion and admits the linear approximation in equations for the coefficients of the expansion. The numerical solutions due to the truncated Wiener-Hermite expansion oscillate in time around the equilibrium values, and thus a good estimate of the equilibrium values is obtained as mean values of the oscillation.
