In the archaeological museum, a bronze spearhead was newly kept in storage as one of the purchased materials in fiscal 2001. This bronze spearhead is clearly different from that of bronze implements in Yayoi period in the various points and can be said to be an imitation. Plural number of imitations of bronze spearhead having the same characteristics as this one are known to exist, the background of the existence of this kind of imitations is attributed to the collapse and reaction of the old sense of value which broke out in the Meiji era. In this Museum, the reason why we bought this bronze spearhead in spite of knowing it as an imitation can be ascribable to our judgment that this imitation could represent an aspect of the modern history in Japan through it in that meaning.
