Nowadays, in many countries, the Tele-Education or Distance Learning Systems using multimedia educational materials have come into operation. It is very attractive to be able to decrease the limitations of time and distance of learning by using this educational system. But, in the development study of this system, the studying targets seem to exist in only media development limits. A key principle of the educational technology system is that it does not "media do things", but does "people do things". From the above standpoint, we have studied a comparison between class-room education and distance education using multimedia instruction materials by doing both types lectures in the field. This comparison study is made by using the multi variate analysis of students inquiry data. In this paper, the outline of the lecture method for classroom and distance education, the contents of the questionnaire which was filled in after each lecture, and the result data of the factor analysis are described. The evaluation results say that (1) a lecture using multimedia is very attractive and easy to understanding, (2) the tele-education system is not suitable for engineering courses, (3) but, the distance learning system would be attractive for life long education, (4) if we adopt the distance system, it is better to apply a self learning system for preparation and review of the classroom lectures.
