1. This experiment was carried out to compare the changes on the water relation resulted by the difference of the development degree, temperature, humidity, and concentration of external solutions, using Glycine Max Merrill, Vicia Faba L., and Solidago serotina Ait., whose roots were cut off in the water, killed by immersion in hot water, or left normal.2. The outward abnormality of the leaves, and the decrease of the water contents, the transpiration, and absorptions were larger in the materials with cut off or killed roots than in the ones with living roots, and these tendencies increased especially in the older materials.3. The root formation was especially marked in the younger plant cuttings.4. It was showed more clear in the treated materials than in the untreated ones that the outward abnormality in the leaves and the lowering of the water contents became large with the rise of temperature and the fall of humidity. 5. The rate of transpirations and absorptions increased at the early time of measurments and subsequently decreased day by day, and these facts was especially large in the materials treated root which were placed in the higher temperature or in the lower humidity. 6. When the materials were put in glucose or pottasium chloride solutions, the abnormality in the external appearances and the lowering in the water contents were larger in the plant cuttings than in the rooted plants, and these tendencies were striking with the increase of the concentration in the external solutions, particularly being less in the stems than in the leaves. 7. It was particularly large in the plant cuttings in comparison with the rooted plants that transpiration and absorption in the both solutions increased at the early time of measurments and subsequently decreased day by day, and these tendencies became marked with the increase of the concentration of the external solutions.8. After those results, the author may at least say, that the plant cuttings show the characteristic water relations in accordance with the variations of the development degree, the temperature, the humidity, and the concentration of the external solutions.
