In order to clarify the impact bending deformation and the behavior of stress wave propagation in the mechanical structural member, the impact plastic and elastic bending of beam with a square section were investigated changing the loading site. The cantilever and three-point bending experiments were performed by the falling weight method using aluminum specimens. In the case of impact cantilever bending, when the distance between the fixed end and the loading site was short, the plastic bending deflection was increased. In the impact three-point bending, the plastic bending deflection was small when the distance between the supported end and the loading site was short. However, the difference in the deflection at each loading site becomes larger as the impact velocity increases. The impact plastic bending deflection was not proportional to the distance from fixed end or supported end to loading site. Thus, these impact bending behaviors were different from the static one. It can be concluded from the numerical analysis that these impact bending behaviors are influenced by the stress wave propagation and the inertial effect of beam.
