この論文は国立情報学研究所の学術雑誌公開支援事業により電子化されました。A cDNA clone derived from developing cotton fiber cells has been isolated as a homolog of Acetobacter xylinum bcsA gene encoding cellulose 4-β-glucosyltransferase. The clone characterized as pcsA2 (celA2) appears to be a full length cDNA of 3,311 bp and has an open reading frame of 3,120 bp that encodes a polypeptide of 1,039 amino acids with a calculated molecular mass of 125 kDa. The bacterial cellulose 4-β-glucosyltransferase shows sequence similarity to the cotton cDNA gene product at four regions, one of which is the binding site for UDP-glucose.
