We have carried out a systematic study of photodegradation of tailored nanostructure Si solar cells deposited by controlling their medium range order (MRO). The nanostructure of Si films can be precisely tailored by changing the thickness of their sublayers deposited under different hydrogen dilutions. Raman spectroscopy reveals that MRO rapidly improves with increasing high-hydrogen-dilution sublayer thickness up to 2 nm, while the short range order (SRO) changes slowly. The degradation ratio of the solar cells fabricated by this method can be reduced to less than 5% and such cells show an excellent stabilization efficiency. We have observed the direct correlation between MRO and the degradation ratio of the solar cells.
