Behaviors of Dielectric Superlattice Thin Films Composed of Silicate Glass Nanolayers

We report on the piezoelectricity, anomalous photovoltaic effect and photoluminescent characteristics of super-lattice films composed of silica glass nanolayers. It was clarified that layer boundaries of the superlattice structure were effective for inducing piezoelectricity. Furthermore, we observed an anomalous photovoltaic effect in the silica superlattice film. White light emission upon ultraviolet irradiation was observed in both the asdeposited and thermal-treated films.
