Solid and aqueous Raman spectra of the nitroammine series of cobalt(III) complexes, [Co(NO<SUB>2</SUB>)<I><SUB>n</SUB></I>(NH<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>6−<I>n</I></SUB>]<SUP>(3−<I>n</I>)+</SUP> (<I>n</I>=1–6), have been measured for the region of 1500–100 cm<SUP>−1</SUP>. The assignments of the Raman bands due to the skeletal vibrations of the complexes have been made on an empirical basis and compared with those of the infrared bands in the literature.
