The reaction of aziridine derivatives having a urethane-type protecting group with several alcohols in the presence of boron trifluoride etherate afford the corresponding optically pure <I>O</I>-alkylserine and <I>O</I>-alkylthreonine derivatives <I>via</I> a ring-opening reaction of aziridine in good yield.
