The integrated intensities of the fundamental bands of CH<SUB>3</SUB>Cl and CD<SUB>3</SUB>Cl molecules have been measured by the pressure broadening technique. The Coriolis intensity perturbation between ν<SUB>3</SUB> and ν<SUB>6</SUB> bands of CD<SUB>3</SUB>Cl has been analysed to determine the sign to be negative. The intensity analysis has been carried out to determine the correct signs of (∂<I>p</I>/∂<I>Q</I><SUB>i</SUB>). The resulting signs are (−++) for A<SUB>1</SUB> and (−+−) for E species. The (∂<I>p</I>/∂<I>S</I><SUB>j</SUB><SUP>R</SUP>) values as well as the atomic polar tensors have been obtained.
