The Raman spectra of <I>N</I>-methyl-2-pyrrolidone in various states were measured. Remarkable changes in the spectrum of CH<SUB>2</SUB> bending vibrations were found besides a spectrum change of the skeletal vibrations. Normal vibration calculations and measurements regarding band-intensity changes associated with temperature changes suggest that a change of the ring conformation takes place in this molecule by hydrogen bonding to a nitrogen atom.
