The macrobicyclic and macrotricyclic cryptands containing the <I>trans</I>-tetrahydrofuran-2,5-diylbis(methylene) molecular framework as the chiral subunit were prepared in optically active forms. The enantiomer recognition property of the macrotricyclic tetracarboxamide (+)-<B>6</B> in transport of enantiomeric molecules was examined, and the cation-binding abilities of the macrotricyclic and macrobicyclic amines <B>7</B>, <B>10</B>, and <B>13</B> were also investigated.
