The optically active 18-crown-6 derivative having two tert-butyl substituents as a chiral barrier was prepared by using (−)-(<I>R</I>)-3,3-dimethylbutane-1,2-diol as a chiral source and its chiral recognition behavior in transport of racemic guest molecules through bulk liquid membranes was investigated.
