Titanium oxide-supported carbonylmolybdenum catalyst was applied to selective monoallylation of methyl <I>p</I>-tolylsulfonylacetate using allylic acetates or carbonates in refluxing dioxane. This reaction required both 2,2′-bipyridyl as a ligand and sodium hydride as a base for preparation of the salt of methyl <I>p</I>-tolylsulfonylacetate.
