The title compound <B>2</B>, which is the first example of a <I>C</I><SUB>2</SUB> symmetric dibridged ferrocenophane, has been synthesized via a base-catalyzed condensation of 3,4′-diacyl[5]ferrocenophane. The spectroscopic properties of <B>2</B> are briefly discussed by comparing them with the corresponding prismatic [5,5]ferrocenophane having <I>C</I><SUB>2<I>v</I></SUB> symmetry.
