13C and 15N NMR data are reported for 1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthalene (DMAN) and two of its salts in both the solid state and solutions in CD3CN. Only the 15N results are sufficiently sensitive to show the presence of the fully protonated form of DMAN in the solid state and of a partially protonated structure in solution.
