The values of the directly-bonded carbon-hydrogen coupling constants (<I>J</I><SUB>C–H</SUB>) of the methyl and methylene groups in <I>n</I>-pentane were calculated by using the CNDO/2 method, taking into account its rotational isomers, and it was found that the calculated values of <I>J</I><SUB>C–H</SUB> agree closely with the observed values.
