The oxidation states of the NO group and the geometries for the nitrosylrhodium compounds were investigated on the basis of the <SUP>15</SUP>N-isotopic shifts of the N–O stretching vibrations and the frequencies of the Rh–NO stretching ones. RhCl(NO<SUB>2</SUB>)(NO)(PPh<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB> was found to react with NO to give RhCl(NO<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>(PPh<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>.
