Chondrosarcoma Arising from the Ethmoid Sinus and Extending to the Anterior Skull Base.

A 42-year-old woman complained of bilateral nasal obstruction and right visual disturbance. MRI and CT revealed a large irregular tumor shadow in the whole ethmoid sinus extending to the nasal cavity, sphenoid sinus, right orbit, and anterior cranial fossa. The tumor was histologically diagnosed as chondrosarcoma and was totally removed with right orbital exenteration with a combined anterior cranial fossa and sublabial nasomaxillary approach. The bony defect of the anterior cranial fossa was reconstructed in a trifold manner with pericranial galeal flap, temporal muscle flap, and fascia lata. The postoperative course was uneventful and there was no sign of recurrence one year after the operation. This operation is advantageous both for total removal and for cosmetic result.
