A neonate had an abscess in the left inner canthus, caused by MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). She was delivered by Caesarean section without trouble, because of cephalopelvic disproportion. A small mass in the left inner canthus was noted at birth, and the mass slowly increased. She was admitted to our department at 4 days of age. Her mother had not been treated for any infection during pregnancy. CT scan revealed a soft density mass in the left inner canthus, and we obtained pus from the mass by an incision. MRSA was caltured from the pus. Drainage, washing, disinfection and antibiotic therapy were successful, and she was discharged at 28 days of age without complications.
