Symptomatic analysis of spinal neurinomas.

Thirty-two patients with spinal neurinomas, admitted to the Kyushu University Hospital during the past 20 years, were retrospectively analysed. The tumors were located in the cervical in 8, in the thoracic in 10, in the thoraco-lumbar in 5, and in the lumbosacral regions in 5 cases. There were four multi-located neurinomas. Age distribution was from 17 to 77 years with the average of 44.5 years. Pain was an initial symptom in 71% of the cases. The length of the case histories varied from 4 months to 5 years with an average of 1.7 years. As an early diagnosis is difficult to make, observation of the patient who complains of pain is important.
