ADL disturbance in patients with traumatic incomplete cervical spinal cord injury.

The level of disability in the patients with traumatic incomplete cervical spinal cord injury depends on the region and the degree of damage in spinal cord, and their conditions of ADL are various in each case. The patients with traumatic cervical spinal cord injury (male: 14 female: 2) were divided into two groups, a complete motor paralysis group and an incomplete motor paralysis group. A comparative investigation of ADL disturbance was performed on the two groups. The result showed that the ADL of the incomplete motor paralysis group was generally batter than the complete motor paralysis group, but considerable spasticity and joint contructure remained as a problem. Besides, F wave recorded from the upper and lower limbs in those two groups and normal subjects was assessed. F/M ratio in the groups with cervical spinal cord injury was significantly greater in the normal subjects.
