A study of surveillance and analysis of the risk factors of femoral neck fracture in patients with hemiplegia.

From January 1975 to December 1985, 722 pateints with hemiplegia due to CVA admitted to our hospital. There were 512 males and 210 females, with 363 right hemiplegia and 351 left hemiplegia. We surveyed and analyzed the risk factors of 15 cases with femoral neck fractures, which were divided into two groups: intracapsular fractures and extracapsular fractures of the neck of the femur. Consequently, two groups had no efficient difference in age, sex, and ADL (ability of transportation, etc). All cases were operated on in our hospital and efficient operative results were obtained. So, we conclude that opreative procedure on hemiplegic patients who suffered from femoral neck fracture is highly recommended without any specific post-operative complications.
