In order to get the best condition for weft running, a yarn was propugated into free atmosphere by an air jet through a metallic nozzle, and the following results were obtained:
(1) For a yarn speed of 22.5m per second, the following condition was necessary : larger cam (dwell 49mm), larger tank (10l), nozzle c(l/d=0.5), machine speed 300∼400 p.p.m, pressure 2.4∼3.0 ata.
(2) It seemed necessary to use a nozzle of l/d=0.2∼0.24 for yarn to reach further.
(3) The larger the kinetic energy of air jet, the better the yarn running condition.
