The cell cycle duration of epidermal cells in keratotic dermatoses was investigated with the combination of cytofluorometric and mathematical methods. In normal epidermis, the relative time spent in each phase was 85.6% (G1), 9.7% (S) and 4.7% (G2+M). The relative time in ichthyosis vulgaris epidermis was similar to that in normal epidermis. In the cases of psoriasis, neurodermatitis and non-bullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma, the percentage of S phase was larger than that in normal epidermis.
