• Clinical trial using methylene-blue (MB) dye oral administration for total colonoscopic examination was carried out as to analyse the degree of mucosal staining, diagnosis of minute lesions and adverse side effects. The rate of adequate luminal staining was, obtained in 73.6 % in the group with MB administration. There were no apparent differences in detection of the lesions more than 6 mm in size between groups with or without MB administration, whereas the rate of finding the lesions less than 5 mm in size was significantly increased in the group with MB administration. Although the. levels of serum GOT, GPT and BUN were significantly inrceased after MB, administration, those changes were all remained within normal range.
