1) Hairs of a male subject, aged 21, were cut and their absolute strength and the elongation were measured by means of L. Schopper's Yarn tester under the caution cited in Part I. This time, however, the measurement was performed not only for a single hair, but also for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15 hairs respectively, each hair being held parallel. The strength per hair decreased with the number of hairs. The decrease of strength per hair was nearly 6g. for every additional hair, whereas, the elongation percentage was never influenced by the addition of hairs. 2) One hundred hairs of a male subject, aged 31, were cut at the parietal region and the absolute strength and the elongation of each single hair were measured at the root part of the hair-shaft. The absolute strength and the elongation of the hairs at a given region of the head was not absolutely equal, nor, on the other hand, did they vary much. 3) Hairs of a female subject, aged 30, were cut at the parietal region and the absolute strength and the elongation of each single hair were measured in the following way. Each single hair-shaft was cut every 50mm into segments from the root part to the apex and the central part of each segment was measured. The absolute strength and the elongation of a single hair varied a little according to the position of the segment. Those of the same segment of different hairs were nearly the same. 4) The auother tested the strength and the elongation under various gauge lengths as 3, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 250, 500mm. The hairs used for this examination were those of a female case, aged 18. The greater the gauge length, the greater the decreese of the strength and especially of the elongation percentage, for when the gauge length was very small (3-5mm.), the elongation percentage was very large, while when the gauge length was large (50-500mm.), the elongation percentage was rather small. The noticeable decreese of the elongation percentage must due to the fact that the very small difference of the load caused a remarkable movement of the elongation percentage. 5) The major axis and minor axis of the hair-section, measured by means of Schopper's micrometer, were smaller than those measured by means of a microscope. The shortage of the major axis was 3,9% and that of the minor axis was 6,5%.
