Bangladesh has been divided into 30 Agroecological Regions (AEZs) and the applied agricultural research has currently been conducted on this basis. In context of the lack of enough mineralogical information on the AEZ basis, an attempt has been taken to study mineralogy of important soils from all AEZs of Bangladesh in order to provide basic information for applied research. As a part of this attempt, the mineralogy of two soils from AEZ 2, Active Tista Floodplain, three soils from AEZ 7, Active Brahmaputra-Jamuna Floodplain and fifteen soils from AEZ 4, Karatoya-Banglai Floodplain, has been reported in this paper. The soils of three AEZs were acidic to neutral in nature, had low to moderate amounts of clay, and the texture was mostly medium (mainly silt loam). The 2-20μm silt fraction was composed of quartz, mica, chlorite and plagioclase with small amounts of K-feldspar in all soils and amphibole in some soils. Mica and chlorite were the predominant minerals in the < 2μm clay fraction.
