The content of this article has been presented at the first teachers' conference at Otaru University of Commerce on November 13, 1988. This paper considers the theoretical framework of foreign and/or second language learning and teaching through review of the articles, which presents the first part of the research investigating a systematic method of error corrections in a foreign and/or second language classroom. The results of the study examining the relationship between the learners' proficiency and transfer errors shall be reported in the second part of the research in the future.
