The nonlinear behaviour of a self-exciting oscillator which is proposed as a toy model of irregular pulsating stars is investigated. The types of singular points and the processes for the folding to yield the attractors are studied. Two different types of folding are found in the oscillator.Nonlinear dynamicsstellar pulsationnonadiabatic oscillations
