Eggs collected from uteri of female worms of Toxocara canis were cultured in 1.5% formalin at 30℃ and room temperature (winter season). The development of the egg was much delayed at room temperature, while the egg developed rapidly at 30℃. At 30℃ almost all eggs developed to the larval stage in 7 days, and a few to the second-stage larvae in 11 days. The latter fact was confirmed by the inoculation of the eggs to mice. The inoculation of mice with the cultures of from 11 to 18 days old resulted in rapid increase in the larvae recovered from tissues of the mice, and the culture of 20 days old reached the maximum infectivity. The eggs of 272 days old at 30℃ had about the same extent of infectivity as that of 20 days old. From the results of the examinations on the infected mice it was observed that the number of the recovered larvae was smaller in the lungs and kidneys, but larger in the brain and body muscle of mice than of dogs. The growth of the second-stage larvae in tissues of mice over those within eggs was not observed.
