精神薄弱児の弁別学習における媒介機能研究の展望

During the past twenty years there has appeared many experimental studies of retardate discrimination learning. Three trends in the research efforts were found in this period; (a) studies determined the retardate simple discrimination learning rate, (b) studies on relationship between discrimination learning performances and general behavior characteristics of retarded (i.e., rigidity, distractibility and outerdirectedness), and (c) studies related to mediating functions in the discrimination transfer learning. In this paper, the purpose was to review the recent theories and the experimental researches about mediating responses of retardate discrimination learning. The theoretical and the experimental development in the study on mediating responses of retardate discrimination learning is relating to two major contemporary viewpoints; a non(or pre)-verbal or perceptual mediating function and a verbal mediating one. There is observing or attending response theory by Zeaman & House in the former. And there are verbal mediation theory by Kendler & Kendler and verbal mediation deficiency theory by Luria in the latter. The findings of current experimental researches in retardate discrimination and discrimination transfer learnings which have been interpreted in terms of the above two formulations were summarized and discussed.
