A "fear of fire" has persisted since Man discovered fire, largely because of the pain that it can inflict in the form of a burn. Burns have never been eradicated, and the pain that was felt in prehistoric times is the same pain that burn victims feel today, though the causes that can inflict a burn have multiplied exponentially with every advance that Man has made in improving his environment. The blister fluid that develops because of a burn, produced when a thermal injury affects the superficial layer of the dermis, has been the subject of clinical studies. This paper adds to this literature, and describes a method that has achieved favorable results in removing blister fluid without rupturing the blister membrane.
