Six patients with late complications of paraffin injections underwent surgery. The resected materials were examined histologically and were identified by chemical analysis in three cases. All but one of the patients felt free from long-term distress. One patient, who had received bilateral augmentation mammaplasty, had been suffering from severe systemic disorders even after two surgical removals. The larger the amount of injected materials, the more remarkable their migration. The complete removal of the injected substances and coverage by well-vascularized tissues are the fundamental principles in salvage operations for patients with moderate to severe complications. The actual conditions of complications by injection methods in Japan were also briefly investigated.
