Raman spectra of systems of a few alkyl chlorides and liquid ammonia were measured at room temperature. The results obtained were as follows : (1) The ν_3 vibration of carbon tetrachloride was affected by mixing with liquid ammonia, resulting the change of the relative intensity of the doublet caused by the Fermi-resonance. (2) As for the chloroform, each of the Raman lines of C-H stretching and C-H bending vibrations separated into two lines. This fact shows the formation of a complex between chloroform and ammonia. Assuming that this complex is formed in one-to-one ratio, its association constant was measured. Its value was about 1.2 in mole fraction unit. (3) No measurable change was observed in Raman spectrum when methylene chloride was mixed with liquid ammonia. (4) By mixing ethyl chloride with liquid ammonia, it was impossible to take Raman spectrum as certain reactions occurred and its solution separated into two layers.
